Cryocooler Maintenance, Spare Parts, and Accessories

We offer replacement adsorbers for our Cryomech Compressors, which, if needed, are delivered as complete kits together with the necessary equipment for adsorber replacement. With spare parts from the original equipment manufacturer, the high-performance level and longevity of your system is ensured.

Closed-cycle gas compressors require adsorbers to clean the impurities from helium circulating in the cryocooler system. Vaporous contaminants become trapped on the filtering media, permitting only helium gas to pass to the cold head. Replacing adsorbers is required preventative maintenance for both Pulse Tube and Gifford-McMahon Helium Compressor packages.

Gifford-McMahon Cryocoolers have cold head seals that need to be periodically replaced. We offer replacement seal kits for our Gifford-McMahon Cryocoolers, containing all the necessary parts to perform this maintenance. This maintenance can be performed entirely in the field.

Periodically, customers may need to adjust the static helium pressure in their Cryomech Cryocooler Systems. Note that when adding helium to the system, it must be 99.999% pure. Contamination of helium by other gases is a common cause of premature failure.

We offer the tools and accessories to either adjust small quantities of pressure or to evacuate and then recharge components with pure helium.

Vacuum Manifolds

Vacuum Manifold kits allow users to evacuate and recharge components with minimal risk of contaminants entering the closed refrigerant loop. A typical vacuum/charging kit comprises a vacuum manifold, charging lines, service Aeroquips, helium regulator, vacuum pump (including a vacuum gauge) and high purity helium cylinder (the customer is responsible for providing helium cylinders). We can provide parts or a full kit to complete a customer’s vacuum/charging needs.

Charging Tee

Charging tees are used to add or remove smaller amounts of helium pressure to Cryomech systems. Customers are responsible for providing the high purity helium source. This tool connects directly to the Service Port on the Cryomech Helium Compressor package. It is equipped with a pressure gauge for monitoring supply pressure, and a purging port to reduce the likelihood of inadvertently adding contaminants to your Cryomech system.

Service Aeroquip Couplings

Service Aeroquips used in combination with a vacuum manifold and charging lines allow you to properly vent, evacuate, and recharge helium in your cryocooler systems when necessary.

The Linear Power Supply is an external cold head power supply that reduces RF noise. Some customers have found the standard stepper motor drive in the Helium Compressor Packages can interfere with experiments. The power supply is a solution for those situations, limiting RF interference.

Cold Head Sleeves are available for both Gifford-McMahon and Pulse Tube Cryocooler cold heads. This sleeve gives the customer the ability to UHV bake or remove the cold head for maintenance without having to disassemble the Cryostat.

The UHV sleeve remains attached as the cold head interface, and, when necessary, the cold head is removed from the sleeve. This product has a low vibration option, which reduces cold head vibrations.

The cold head motor cables provide electrical power from the helium compressor package to the cold head motor or remote motor assembly. If the cables become damaged, they must be replaced with new ones. Contact our customer service team for genuine Cryomech cold head motor cables. Different lengths available upon request.

Our tool kits are provided with each Cryomech System ordered. These include all the tools required to make connections during installation of equipment. Kits typically contain wrenches and some minor spare parts depending on the system ordered.
