For demanding experiments, XLD1000sl systems can be equipped with an additional 4K Flange. This requires having three Pulse Tube Cryocoolers, which reduces the number of side-loading ports in the system to five.

In such a configuration, heating power of up to ~1 W can be applied to the flange before exceeding 5 kelvin temperatures. The elevated temperature of the extra flange has a minimal effect on system operation.

The additional 4K Flange is located between the 50K and 4K Flanges.

Dissipate More Heat

Designed for the most demanding measurements where a large amount of heat needs to be dissipated at the 4K stage without interrupting system performance.

No Effect on System Performance

Because the Additional 4K Flange is not in thermal contact with the rest of the system, even large heat loads will have a minimal effect on the Dilution Refrigerator Measurement System performance.

XLDsl

The Additional Pulse Tube Cryocooler requires a different configuration for the Room Temperature, 50K, and 4K Flanges. As a result, a system with 3 pulse tubes has 1 side-loading port less than the regular system. The layout also differs from the standard configuration as the extra pulse tube requires an additional compressor.
