Bluefors Leadership Team


Kim Povlsen

As Chief Executive Officer, Kim leads Bluefors and its team of 700 employees globally. Previously he served as President and CEO Universal Robots A/S. Earlier in his career, Kim held several leadership positions at Schneider Electric, a global high-tech company, where he led business transformation and technology strategies across Europe, the US, and Asia.

David drives strategic growth at Bluefors by bridging technological innovation with business objectives, leading business development and IPR initiatives, and cultivating partnerships. He holds a Ph. D. from Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden, 2005, focusing on his work on Josephson junction quantum bits. He continued his research at the Low Temperature Laboratory, Helsinki University of Technology (2005-2008), and, prior to joining Bluefors, worked as a Senior Scientist at VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland (2008-2015). With his background in leading sales, product development, and R&D at Bluefors, he has a deep understanding of both technical and business requirements in cryogenics for the future of quantum technology.

After gaining his PhD in Engineering Physics from Aalto University in 2012, Anssi joined Bluefors as a Cryoengineer and Scientist. His experience in a wide range of scientific and technical operations roles has led to his current position as Chief Offering Development Officer, where he is responsible for offering development at Bluefors, encompassing portfolio management, strategic projects, product development, research and innovation, as well as service products and delivery.

Timo Luukkala is a recognized, value-driven leader who builds a positive culture through trust and strategic direction. He brings over 30 years’ experience in global telecommunications and power electronics organizations, in leadership roles including Customer Services, Logistics and Manufacturing. Timo brings his strong competence in in e2e Supply Chains in a global environment as Chief Operations and Supply Chain officer at Bluefors, where his experience of all stages of company growth, from starting new, to restructuring, divesting, as well as running established organizations, helps deliver strategies that take Bluefors well into the future.

With 20 years experience in global high tech businesses, including Nokia, Mikko Nurminen has played a key role in taking leading tech companies all the way from start-up to scale-up. With an MSc from Tampere University, his expertise in sales, marketing and leading product-based businesses puts him in a unique position to drive Bluefors’ goals of helping solve the world’s biggest challenges by enabling the quantum technology breakthrough.

Helena Sneck

As Chief Legal Officer, Helena is responsible for legal affairs, legal compliance, and corporate governance matters at Bluefors. She holds a Master of Laws degree from the University of Turku and brings extensive experience from the high-tech sector, having previously held senior legal roles at Planmeca, a leading health-tech company, and serving as Legal Counsel at Aalto University, where she supported innovation and research services.

Jussi Ristimäki

As Chief Financial Officer, Jussi is responsible for finance, facilities, IT, and sustainability at Bluefors. With a Master’s degree in Economics from the Turku School of Economics and over 25 years of experience in finance and general management—including CFO and CEO roles in both listed and privately owned companies—Jussi brings deep expertise and leadership to the organization. He plays a key role in driving financial strategy, supporting cross-functional teams, and advancing sustainability and governance initiatives.

Board of Directors


Kimmo Aikio holds a BBA from Texas A&M University, and an Executive MBA from Helsinki University of Technology. He has over 20 years experience working in executive roles for numerous international technology companies, including TietoEVRY, F-Secure, Nokia Networks and Compaq. He has also served on the board of directors for Cargotec, the Federation of Finnish Technology Industries, and DIGI.FI.

Rob has close to 30 years hands-on experience designing and building cryogenic systems. In 1997 he obtained his MSc from Leiden university at the Kamerlingh Onnes laboratorium, where he repaired his first dilution refrigerator. In collaboration with Leiden University, he completed his PhD in dynamic superfluids at Helsinki University of Technology (now Aalto University) in 2002. After a post-doc position at Leiden University, he returned to Finland and in 2008 founded Bluefors together with Pieter Vorselman.

Pieter Vorselman began his 30+ years of experience in field of cryogenics as a research instrument maker in Leiden, the Netherlands, at an organization founded by Heike Kamerlingh Onnes. At Leiden University, he completed a BSc in Physics on quantum fluids and solids. He also worked for Leiden Cryogenics and Aalto University, both in technical and management roles, before founding Bluefors with Rob Blaauwgeers.

Lauri Stadigh is the co-founder and partner at Helsinki-based DevCo, a long-term oriented active owner and development partner dedicated to building world leading companies.

Vanechka Patel is an Investment Professional at Helsinki-based DevCo. She has a background in M&A and Corporate Development working at Ondra Partners and Lloyds Banking Group, London. She also serves as the Chair for the Bluefors Finance Committee.

Juha Räisänen has more than 30 years of hands-on managerial, executive management, and boardroom experience in General Management, Sales, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Sourcing & Procurement and Quality. He has worked across several industries such as Software & Services, Electronics, Semiconductors, Mechanical Engineering and Plastics. He has an MSc. from Helsinki University of Technology (Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Information Technology).
