Pulse Tube Cryocooler Upgrade
Pulse tube cryocoolers are essential in dilution refrigerator operation. They play several vital roles in the systems: pre-cooling components of the dilution refrigerator insert, cooling the radiation shields of the cryostat during operation, pre-cooling helium-3 gas, and providing additional cooling power to heat sink experimental wiring.
Upgrading your system’s pulse tube cryocooler brings a significant performance increase. By utilizing more powerful cryocoolers, you can take advantage of higher cooling power performance both at the mixing chamber flange and at the 4K flange. Depending on your current pulse tube, it is possible to upgrade to the PT415, PT425, or PT310 cryocoolers.
The upgrade service includes a service visit at your site to install the new cryocooler, cold head and compressor, carry out a testing procedure, and recycle the old cryocooler cold head and compressor. With the PT310 upgrade, clamps and a motor plate for the larger ballast tanks are also provided.

Enhanced Dilution Unit Performance with the PT310
The PT310-RM is optimized for performance at the 3K temperature range at which Bluefors dilution units operate. The model increases the average cooling power performance at the MXC Flange by 10–20%, and improves the cool down time of the system.

Pulse Tube Cryocooler Refurbishment
With no moving parts, pulse tube cryocoolers are ideal for vibration-sensitive applications are designed to perform for a long time before maintenance is required.
After many years and hours of operation, performance degradation can occur due to contamination from the compressor system which uses oil and a lubricated scroll module. These contaminates must be removed by having the unit refurbished, after which it will be revitalized to perform like new for many years. The refurbishment service is offered to systems with PT415 and PT420 cryocoolers, with 6–9 years old cryocoolers being the optimal age range for the service.
Our pulse tube cryocooler refurbishment service is a cost-effective solution to enhance the performance of existing cryocoolers. The service is carried out through a visit to your site to refurbish the cryocooler, and includes a testing procedure.
