Solenoid Magnets

Magnets

Integrated cryogen-free superconducting Solenoid Magnets up to 16 Tesla.

We offer integrated, cryogen-free superconducting Solenoid Magnets up to 16 Tesla with our cryogenic measurement systems.

Many configurations are available to suit different experimental requirements — for example, incorporation of field compensated regions, increased field homogeneity, fitting a persistent mode switch, low field drift PSW, and optical access.

Magnets

Installation Without Soldering

Screw terminals for current leads provide a fast and simple magnet installation and removal without soldering.

Effective Heat Transfer

Connection to the 4K Flange with a high thermal conductivity tube, which ensures effective heat transfer with a low thermal gradient.

Power Supply Quick Connection Rail

A quick connection rail for the power supply at room temperature enables easy connection of magnets to the power supply.

Integrated Magnet Temperature Monitoring

Temperature monitoring of magnets is possible through the fully integrated Bluefors Temperature Controller. A sensor on the magnet relays diagnostics to the Temperature Controller for automated monitoring.

Control Magnets Directly in Control Software Gen. 2

Magnets can be directly controlled in Control Software Generation 2, which has a built-in interface to operate magnets and modify their settings. Control Software Gen. 2 comes with systems utilizing the new Gas Handling System Generation 2.

Safety Certified Power Supply System

All of our superconducting magnets come with four quadrant power supply system that is safety certified under the CB scheme.

Persistent Mode Switch

A persistent mode switch is offered as an option for our Solenoid Magnets. With the persistent mode, the magnetic field has higher stability and persists without continuous current supply to the magnet from an external power supply.

Integrated Options to Suit Experimental Needs

To suit various experimental needs, we have designed different kinds of magnet configurations with integrated options for the magnet solutions.

Descriptions

Magnets in this category have line-of-sight optical access perpendicular to the magnet bore, that is, radial optical access (ROA). This can be achieved with split coil. In contrary to solenoids, which are continuous cylinders, split coils have a discontinuity in the middle.

Magnets in this category have especially high homogeneity (HH) values. This can be useful for experiments where the magnetic field strength must be uniform over a large volume.

Magnets with high vertical magnetic field strengths can have significant stray fields outside the magnet bore. This can generate eddy current heating to the measurement system as well as have an effect on the readings of temperature sensors. It is possible to decrease the field strength in unwanted regions, which is typically the low temperature stage of the Bluefors cryogenic measurement system. That can be done either by placing the magnet farther away from the measurement system or the magnet can be equipped with a compensation coil. The compensation coil is integrated within the magnet structure above the main coil so that it counters the magnetic field within a specified region.

If you wish to use a system with an integrated magnet without a magnet, and decrease the cooldown time, a 4K Shield Magnet Dummy needs to be used. The shield replaces the magnet and is attached to the same location. Additionally, to have a bigger sample space while using the system without a magnet, an extra still shield without a tail is needed.

Solenoid Magnets

Magnets

We offer different options for our magnets, for example to enable a more stable magnetic field. Our options include a Persistent Mode Switch (PSW), Low-Field Drift PSW, and Full Field.

If you do not find a suitable magnet configuration in the standard magnet list, do not hesitate to contact us with special requirements for an integrated magnet. For example, magnets can be designed with implementation of low field drift rate, split pair configuration, high homogeneity, or magnetic field shielding.
