He System

Cryostat without dilution unit

The He System is a compact, entry level (1K) helium system, that embodies a SD|LD cryostat without a dilution unit. It allows you to conduct experiments down to 3 K or 0,5 K, with an opportunity of upgrading it to a full dilution refrigerator at any later stage. It takes only 3-4 days on-site installation. All options, e.g. magnets, wiring and vibration isolation are compatible.

High and continuous cooling power

The main advantage of the He System is its gas handling system of robust dimension, which provides system’s high and continuous cooling power. In addition, the He System can be operated with either helium-3 or helium-4 gas isotopes. Typical base temperature, below 500 mK, is easily achievable with 7 liters of the helium-3 as an operational gas, and below 900 mK with helium-4 operational gas.

Bluefors provides two different models: LD250HE and LD400HE. The key difference between these systems is gas handling system used. The LD250HE can be further upgraded to the full dilution fridge LD250 and similarly LD400HE to LD400.

Options

Optical Ports

We offer direct optical access to the sample space. The optical ports can be equipped with different window materials and are available in different sizes and configurations.

Magnetic Shielding

We offer mu-metal magnetic shielding that can be fitted directly to the system (e.g. a mu-metal cylinder with one end closed inside the lower section of the vacuum can). For magnetic shielding we work together with Amuneal Manufacturing Corp.

4K Heater Kit

Fully automated fast warm-up option, which allows overnight warm-up for our standard LD systems.
